Shooting Stars is a super cute contemporary novel that I could not put down. It was fun, fast-paced, and the perfect book for a rainy day.Jo doesn't seem like she would be an easy character to like (I mean she is a paparazzi) but it turned out it was hard not to like her. She's ruthless sometimes and she goes after what she wants. However she is not heartless. Once she gets to know the subject in front of the lens things get a little harder for her. Things aren't as black and white as she once thought. Ned Hartnett isn't a total jerk and he actually turns out to be a good guy as do the other teens at the retreat with Jo and Ned. The characters aren't amazingly well-developed but they are all likable. The writing is simple and flows smoothly. It's not overly descriptive or weighty. It moves the book along and makes it a very quick read. It won't take long to get used to the writing and get into the story. The plot isn't exactly original and the mystery isn't that hard to figure out but it's cute. It's definitely a book that will make you laugh and leave you with a smile. The romance is also a big part of the story but it's not heavy. It's sweet and funny and very real. Jo and Ned are adorable!Overall, Shooting Stars is a cute contemporary with a bit of a deeper meaning. Definitely check this one out if you are looking for a quick light read.
